Presidents' Day Chapel

All of the Kindergartners at Friends Christian School showcased a few songs honoring our past and present presidents. As usual, when Ellie's in the spotlight, she shuts the smile off. She takes every performance very seriously.
Ellie's latest "interest:" his name is Hayden.

Ellie looked at the music teacher, Mrs. Holmes, for every song. She is careful to follow directions.

(The videos aren't very good quality, but you can hear the sweet songs!)

Happy Day Off!

This morning, we headed to Irvine Park with the Murtys and Wagners. We loaded up the Expedition with 3 eager kids, 4 hopeful adults, our gear and Subway sandwiches. ;)

When we arrived, we were surprised at how cold it was outside. All complaints aside, we immediately rode the train and ponies and soon headed over to picnic in the sun--just beginning to peak out from behind the clouds.

The kids ran around like maniacs, the dads threw the football around and the moms defrosted in the sun.

Ellie's new BFF, Brooke, was sweet enough to sit with Ellie on the train.
Ellie's too tall to ride the little ponies now!
Trotting ponies!

Lillie's turn!

A great time was had by all. Today was a good day.

South Coast Winery Trip

The girls and I have been planning a weekend to Temecula for several weeks now. We all turn 30 this year and since Mike and Jo's birthdays are close together we had to go big!
We found a fantastic Groupon online that included a one-night stay in a villa, brunch, wine tastings and a wine and cheese pairing. We scored a great deal!
I was sad and disappointed on Thursday afternoon when I realized I was not feeling well and probably wouldn't the next day. I slept almost the entire day and went to bed around 7 p.m. My throat felt awful and I had a fever and chills. It wasn't until around 5 a.m. when the fever broke and chills subsided. I did feel a tiny bit better, but my throat was still bad and I had awful nausea. Mike took Ellie to school for me and I had to skip Buggy's playdate. I tried my best to get the energy to pack and clean-up. I had to take a nap after gathering everything. There was no way I was going to miss the opportunity to hang with my favorite people and miss my Boo's birthday celebration!
We checked in early on Friday. As we waited for Jo and Aram to arrive, Jo called Mike to tell him our spa services had been canceled as a result of a power outage. As we investigated further, a hot air balloon had crashed into a power line causing all of the power to the villas and spa to turn off. They asked us if we wanted to reschedule our visit since we wouldn't have power or hot water...no fireplace, heater (the low for the night was in the 30's), nada. Lauren said, "We have sitters. We aren't going anywhere!" Agreed! Amen! We're staying!

There are vines in between every villa. Around 98% of the wine at SCW is from the grapes grown there.

We celebrated Jo and Mike's birthday at Gourmet Italia. The food was delicious and company even better!
The birthday kids!

I was not feeling well at dinner. The nausea was strong and I had no appetite. Needless to say, I was ready to go back to the villas. Jo was also feeling tired and yucky since we had been drinking wine since 1 p.m. and indulged in some pretty rich foods.
We headed back to play Taboo and continue with the vino. After a little re-grouping, we met in the Murtys' villa only to be defeated by the boys and have security knock on the door to tell us we were being too loud. If only that were true. We were in our jammies playing Taboo...seriously? You should have seen the look on our faces when there was a knock our door. lol

Day 2: Since our spa services were canceled the day before, we decided to take the only appointments available for facials. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and then headed to brunch with our boys.

Our Wine & Cheese Pairing was next! We all agreed it was the most fun AND best part of the trip!
Wine and Cheese Pairing with my Boo. Isn't he cute?
He sampled some crazy cheeses. I'm a proud wifey!

Sight, Swirl, Sip...I forget the rest.

The ridiculously cool and private sampling room.
The best part of our trip was eating stinky cheese and drinking wine. I love these girls soooo much!
Our favorite drink of the trip!

After our last tastings, we drove back to our hometown of Fullerton to have one last celebration! This time, Kalea joined the grown-ups for a little teppan grill action. We landed at Chomps in Fullerton. It was the perfect ending to a most perfect trip!

Valentine's Day Fun

I was excited to find out Valentine's Day landed on a day I was scheduled to teach Stroller Strides and equally excited I was signed up to coordinate Ellie's school party.

Everything worked out perfectly. Stroller Strides begins at 9:15 and the potluck after could go on...I'd be free to leave anytime after 10:15. Thankfully, I could enjoy everything since Ellie's party didn't start until 11:40!

Logan brought a special cupcake for Lillie. <3

"Mommy, look!"
I love these two so much!
Ellie's Class Party
Each place setting had a special place card, bedazzled straw and jazzed up skewer.
Each table had their own fondue fountain! How exciting for 5-year olds!
My Girl digging in!
She couldn't get enough! Each child received strawberries, pound cake, marshmallows, rice krispie treats , brownies and bananas!
CRAFT: Ahead of time, I used painters tape to "write" each child's name on a canvas. The kids finger-painted all over. When it dries, you rip the tape off to reveal the child's name. I also attached ribbon to the top so parents could easily hang it up on the wall at home.
Look at the kids going wild!
Happy Valentine's Day!
The masterpieces
This is the Valentine Ellie handed out to her classmates. The girls received lips and the boys mustaches. I cut the pieces and Ellie helped me attached her handwritten message.
Grandpa Jerry brought over flowers for the girls like he does every year. Ellie got a dozen roses while Lillie received one rose and a lily. He's incredibly thoughtful and we love him lots!
This was Buggy's valentine. Goldfish in a cute bag with a sweet message: "You're A Great Catch, Valentine!"
Valentine's Dinner
I'm pretty lucky my Honey wants to go out on V-Day. We're exceptionally lucky to have great parents to watch our kiddos! Gammy and Papa prepared a special dinner and dessert for our girls to enjoy while we saw "The Vow" and ate dinner at 240 South.

The girls were having a picnic in the living room with the doll.

Sweeter than candy, this one!

 "So happy together..." ;)
